Spiral Goddess Screw-up

Image
I joined a new site called swap-bot and was excited to do my first swap... an ATC (or ACEO depending on who you ask).  The website assigns you a partner to send to and when I looked at her profile, the swirl goddess came to mind so I set out doing a few cards... after I did 4 (two I was happy with, 2 I wasn't so sure), I sprayed fixative to finalize them and quickly learned that the ink I used did not go with the fixative I used.  To my disappointment, the ink just bled all over the place.  :( This is the result of being self-taught.  I end up spending more time agonizing over which mediums to use rather than what to draw.  This has kept me in the art closet for way too long.  In the past I would have been so embarrassed that I would not have shared this with you but I'm changing my ways.  Okay self, so you screwed up, so what.  Pick yourself up and try again. :) card 1 I learned the colored pencils (first I used white then silver) did not work with this thick board (my lin

how to steal like an artist :)

Image
One of the most inspiring things I've read in a long time! :) Click HERE for the link to "How to steal like an artist" "Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."  Jim Jarmusch
